Update: On November 3rd, 2024, Sydney Marathon was officially accepted and became the 7th Abbott World Marathon Major.
However, the six-star finisher’s medals will still be presented to anyone who completes the original six marathons.
Cape Town Marathon and Shanghai Marathon are now the two candidates for future acceptance.
