Your road to Boston just got a bit tougher.
The BAA announced today that you’d have to run 6:51 faster than the qualifying time for your age/gender group.
A total of 36,393 qualifiers applied for the 2025 Boston Marathon, which was open from September 9 to September 13, 2024.
Among them:
- 24,069 qualified applicants have been accepted
- 12,324 were not accepted
Congratulations to anyone who made the cut!
According to Chris Chavez on X, the bar has been generally trending higher and higher since 2012 when Boston first established a “cut-off” time in addition to the qualifying standard:
Last week, BAA also increased their qualifying standards for 2026, meaning that your BQ time will need to be faster than before in order to be eligible for registration.
